Marité Ugás was born in Lima, Peru. After earning a Communications degree from Universidad de Lima, she joined the first generation of students at EICTV, Cuba. She creates SUDACA FILMS in the 90’s, where she directs, writes, edits, and produces. Her films have received prestigious awards. THE KID WHO LIES (Berlinale Gerenation 2011) won Best Film at Flanders, Belgium; Best Script at the Havana Film Fest and Jury Award at Viña del Mar, among others. AT MIDNIGHT AND A HALF (Tokyo 1999) received various Opera Prima awards. As writer, editor & producer, she released BAD HAIR (Mariana Rondón-2013) Golden Shell in San Sebastian, both the Bronze Alexander and Fipresci in Thessaloniki; and the Silver Astor in Mar del Plata, along with 44 other awards. She is now developing her next projects, SCHOOL TRIP as Director, and ZAFARI as producer.
